AVID

AVID, or Advancement Via Individual Determination, is indeed a college-readiness program aimed at helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in higher education. It focuses on:

Critical thinking: Encouraging students to analyze and evaluate information.
Organization: Teaching effective note-taking, time management, and study skills.
Collaboration: Promoting teamwork and communication through group activities.
Reading and writing: Enhancing literacy skills essential for college-level coursework.

AVID is often targeted at students who are in the academic middle, providing them with the support and resources to achieve their full potential. It includes elective classes where students receive additional instruction and support, as well as strategies that are integrated into the overall school curriculum.

College & Careers (Pathways)

Jurupa Hills High School CTE Program offers a diverse range of pathways, allowing students to explore various interests and career options. Here's a quick overview of each pathway:

Dance: Focuses on various dance styles and techniques, performance skills, and choreography.
Digital Audio Recording: Teaches students about sound recording, mixing, and production.
Digital Photography: Covers photography techniques, editing, and visual storytelling.
Social Media and Communication in Business: Explores the role of social media in business, marketing strategies, and effective communication.
Professional Acting: Provides training in acting techniques, stage presence, and performance in front of a live audience.
Sports Medicine: Introduces students to the basics of sports medicine, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
Stagecraft Design: Focuses on the technical aspects of theater production, including set design, lighting, and sound.
Transport and Technology: Covers topics related to transportation systems, automotive technology, and engineering.
TV Production: Teaches students about video production, editing, and broadcasting.

Dual Enrollment

The Dual Enrollment Program is a program that allows JHHS students to enroll in college courses, taught by college faculty. Upon successful completion of a course, students earn units toward a college certificate and/or degree. Participation in the program allows students to develop the skillset needed to navigate the higher education system and get ahead. The program is tuition-free and available to all California students who are approved by their high school counselor or administrator to participate.

International Baccalaureate

An IB World School is a school authorized to offer one or more International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. These schools meet IB's high standards for education.

An IB student learns in a unique way that focuses on developing skills to become an independent and critical thinker. The five key learning skills in IB are:

Research skills – Finding, comparing, and prioritizing information
Communication skills – Writing, speaking, listening, and debating

MYP Honors
