Academic Awards Criteria

Selection of Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Junior Honor Attendants, & Academic Medals

The Local Honors Weighted GPA is calculated based on Fontana USD courses taken in Fontana’s Traditional High Schools. They have a factor of "weight" as follows:

  • UC Course Management Approved Honors and Advanced Placement Weighted Courses: A = 5 points, B = 4 points, C = 3 points, D = 1 point, F = 0 points
  • Fontana USD Local Academic Achievement Quality Weighted Courses: A = 4.5 points, B = 3.5 points, C = 2.5 points, D = 1 point, F = 0 points

Excellent student behavior and discipline record. School administration has the right to remove a student from receiving the recognition and participating in the school activities, if the administrator determines that the student's behavior is egregious enough to be deemed unacceptable to qualify for honors recognition.
